The Accident

The day of the accident Megan was out doing what she loved riding horses with her friend Aleshia. On a trail ride, she ended up falling off causing a head injury and doing damage to her spinal cord. She was then CareFlighted to Harris Methodist Hopsital in Ft. Worth where she was diagnosed with spinal cord injury at T-12. Intialling Megan felt and could move nothing from the waist down. She was given little hope of a full recovery and was told she had a long road ahead of her, probably never walking again. Slowly she started to regain some feeling and movement in her right leg. After Megan was stabalized medically she was transfered to Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation where she spent three weeks learning to transfer in and out of her wheelchair, strengthening her arms, and using what she had.

From the beginning Megan refused to except the doctors prognosis and started seeking out people who had fully recovered from spinal cord injuries. She knew that through prayer and finding a program that believed in her would be the only hope she had. In Megan's search she found multiple facilities across the United States that had a new outlook on spinal cord injuries. With these exercise based recovery programs people are focusing on RECOVERY not adaption. When Megan found these programs and connected with others who were experiencing recovery through these programs, she knew she would FULLY recover from her injury. "I don't just want to walk, I want to RUN! I want to ride horses again, I want to kick a soccer ball. I won't stop until I reach my goals."

Megan has not lost hope in the Lord once. She fully trusts that God has a big plan in her life and that this is just another obstacle that will only strengthen her and teach her to lean on Him more.

"It's hard. I won't lie. But God is teaching me about his super natural peace and how to be joyful in every circumstance."
